@mixel.media Two-camera interview with President Bill Clinton and best-selling author James Patterson. In this reel, I’m walking through the setup for a fast-turnaround two-camera shoot. Shot on two Sony FX6s with a 70–200mm for the close-up and a 24–70mm for the wide. I chose zooms to stay flexible, since I didn’t know how much tripod space I’d get or how much time I’d have to move my tripods to adjust framing. For lighting, I used the Aputure 600D with a Light Dome as key, and two Litepanels Astra IP Half units for backlight and room fill. I used as much daylight as possible to fill in the background and keep it looking light and natural. For audio, I went with my two Lectrosonics transmitters and COS-11 lapel mics. I had 20 minutes in the room, so I prepped lighting, cameras, and lenses in the hallway to get a head start. During the interview, I always tried to stay ahead of the conversation, slowly panning between speakers so the move could be used in the edit. I wasn’t chasing every interruption of thought while someone else was talking. I also tried to anticipate who might speak next. It’s important to feel the flow of the conversation. @mixel.media Behind the Scenes: Live Broadcast Setup for Al Jazeera English 🎥 Sony FX6 + 28-135mm Lens. Astra IP Half by Litepanels. Anton/Bauer Titan Micro 90 / 150. Sachtler Flowtech 100. I’ve been using Astra lights since 2016, starting with two X4s, and added an X6 to my kit in 2021. These lights are widely used across the broadcast industry, and Litepanels’ Astra lineup is a must-have for any kit.
